Midland hosts Holiday Art Fair
by The Bay City Times
Thursday November 20, 2008, 11:25 AM

Begin your holiday season at the 29th annual Holiday Art Fair on Saturday and Sunday at Midland Center for the Arts.
Visitors will find a wide selection of unique art and gifts, fresh-baked goods and joyful songs. The first 1,000 paid admissions receive a free shopping bag.
Booths for about 80 juried artists will be arranged throughout the center's lobby areas and Garden Room to display paintings, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics and other distinctive art and gift ideas.
The festive sound of young musicians and singers from around the Midland area will be heard throughout the weekend as they perform classic holiday tunes. Visitors also can observe artist demonstrations by Museum School faculty as they create their works, and purchase goodies from The Sweet Shop, which offers an array of cookies, breads, pies and other temptations donated by Friends of the Center and members of the museum.
While mom and dad shop, children ages 4 and up can enjoy a supervised activity area. The cost is $5 per hour, which includes hands-on fun in the Hall of Ideas museum area and a make-and-take holiday/winter craft.
All proceeds from the Holiday Art Fair benefit exhibitions, studio art classes, workshops, school outreach and other educational programs of the Alden B. Dow Museum, a nonprofit organization.
The center is at 1801 W. St. Andrews Road in Midland. For more information, visit www.mcfta.org.
